Things to remember...
Could all children please have a water bottle with their name on it to ensure they are hydrated all day.
PE kit should be kept in school at all times. Can children make sure they are not wearing jewellery or earrings on PE days and their hair needs to be tied up. Their PE days are currently Wednesday and Thursday.
Reading: We expect children to be reading at home five times a week. All children have specific reading books and diaries.
Homework: This will be given every Friday and is expected to be returned on Wednesday.
Money Sense
We were very fortunate to take part in a Natwest Bank Money Sense Workshop. Children were asked to put their maths and PHSE skills to the test to plan a party for another child. They had to decide what type of party they would have, what equipment and food they would need, what decorations they might want and even what entertainment they would need. As if that wasn't hard enough, they only had a budget of £150 to work with. After much debate and hard work, the children planned fabulous parties and as the pictures clearly show, they had a fantastic time too! Well done year 5!
SPRING TERM
Year 5 indulged in a little bit of Greek luxury and prepared a banquet fit for the Gods. We used our new found chopping and preparing techniques to prepare food safely and we sure you will agree that the results look divine! Some of us created a delicious Greek yoghurt and some of us prepared a traditional Greek salad complete with salad dressing. One of our groups even dared to attempt a Greek omelette which was delectable!
We learned many things including the importance of food hygiene, why it is necessary to keep prepared food apart and most importantly...to make sure we have ALL the ingredients we need.
