Headteacher's Welcome
Dear Parents/Carers,
I think it is safe to say that our school has come a long way since I arrived in January 2008. We came through a very challenging time in 2008, achieved a ‘good’ grading from Ofsted in 2012 and have found our school growing to the two form entry school we are currently.
We recognise that we face serious challenges with a changing context, but we face all of these, including fluctuating attainment results, with the same character traits we endeavour to instil in our children: the resilience to cope with failure, pick ourselves up and keep going; the perseverance to never give up until we’ve got it right; an ability to collaborate with others, to look beyond ourselves to find what works well and how; the courage to take risks to do something differently to bring about improvements; to use the wealth of knowledge about how we learn from research, other settings and countries to improve the learning experiences for all who come through our doors – children, staff, parents, Governors and visitors alike.
We continue to develop our school curriculum with the learner attributes that will ensure our children leave our school with the right attitudes and mind-set to cope well in an ever-changing world; attitudes that value and respect themselves and others. However, we still have much to do to raise standards and achievement. With the right attitude towards learning, a commitment from home to support learning and the best standard of teaching possible, we can do it. The influential educational psychologist, Vygotsky, once said: “What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do tomorrow by herself.” Together we can do it!
We all look forward to working together to make our school SPARKLE! (for information on SPARKLE see links to the school curriculum on this website)
Kind Regards
Lynne Willis (a very proud Headteacher)
