'My Friend Walter' by Michael Morpurgo

Upon completion of our Literacy topic based on ‘My Friend Walter’ by Michael Morpurgo, we edited and improved our work so that we could publish it in a book as if we were real authors. During this, some of us had the opportunity to use a handwriting pen. We all did an excellent job of this, taking care and pride with our work.

River Study

We recently went to the Peak District to study a real-life river as part of our ‘Rivers’ topic in Year 4. During our visit, we looked at three different zones of the River Dane including the mouth and the source. We had the opportunity to measure the width and the depth of the river. We also learnt a lot about the flow of the river and how the river deposits rocks along its journey. We had a fabulous time and learnt a lot about rivers along the way.

Spring 2018

Happy New Year!

This term is set to be an exciting one we will be starting off with reading STig of the Dump in Literacy.

History will see us looking at the Stone Age, Science will be Rocks and Geography has a volcano focus...do you see a theme here?

We hopefully have an exciting trip this term so look out for letters in bags!

This week we have enjoyed different Christmas activities. In maths we calculated how many presents were given during the 12 days of Christmas (this wasn't easy 🤔). In literacy we have enjoyed writing our own Christmas recipe poem 🎄

What have we been up to?

In Science we have been working on the unit of Light. We have investigated different light sources and discussed why light is important. We have also experimented with materials suitable for making a reflective school bag. The children enjoyed using a mirror to complete a walk following a line drawn on the floor. Here are some pictures to show you.
